Steiner and Vivi are main characters from Final Fantasy IX and appear as representatives of said game.
Steiner and Vivi appear as they did in Final Fantasy IX.
Steiner and Vivi's first alternate outfit, "Lindblum Fabrics", gives the duo their appearance from the Amano artwork. Vivi's outfit becomes more intricate with new patterns and beads, while Steiner gains more armor, with the armor becoming a dark purple.
Steiner and Vivi's second alternate outfit, "Familial Bond", has Steiner don the armor of the Knights of Pluto and Vivi dons the clothes of the Black Mages living on the Outer Continent
Steiner and Vivi's third alternate outfit, "Kingdom Hearts gear", has Vivi don his attire from Kingdom Hearts II, while Steiner is given a Twilight Town redesign.
Steiner and Vivi's Manikins, the Capricious Duo, is colored light purple.
Battle[]
Steiner and Vivi are described as a Sword and Spell Duo. Steiner carries Vivi on his shoulders as the two move around the stage. The two have different Brave movesets but share the same HP attacks. The player can switch between the two by pressing both L and R at the same time.

As much as I like Steiner and Vivi, I felt that having them as separate characters forced them to give up some of their uniqueness. As soon as I remembered that Steiner and Vivi developed Sword Magic in Final Fantasy IX, I knew that they had to be together just for that mechanic to be brought over into Dissidia.
