Layle is the main protagonist in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, he begins as a mercenary due to his unusual power as a Crystal Bearer and accepts a mission guarding the Alexis II on it's first voyage. After it is attacked by a horde of Zus, his true purpose to restore the Crystal Order along with Amidatelion (nicknamed 'Goldenrod') is revealed.
His main opponent in Dissidia is Jegran, and they were enemies for the unknown time they were present in Dissidia. After Layle and Amidatelion successfully restored the balance of the crystals in Dissidia, giving Cosmos the ability to imbue her warriors with her powers, they were removed from future cycles for unknown reasons very soon after this event.
Layle's clothing consists of a pair of blue running shoes with a pair of jeans folded at the ends covering the tops of them. He has a small pack attached to the rim of his pants and a yellow shirt semi-visible above it. The shirt if covered by his trademark jacket, with a mix of white, gold and black. The collar has white fur on it, and a pair of goggles sometimes seen on Layle hang around it. His skin is a light colour, and his hair is golden yellow.
His first alternate costume is Darkened Guise, it darkens his overall appearance and recolours his colour scheme to black, red and dark green, as opposed to white, gold and black. His hair is also recoloured to a shiny black.
Layle's secondary alternate costume is Crystal Memories, it makes him look significantly more cartoon-y, reflecting the Clavat costume of him present in Echoes of Time.
His manikin Dauntless Mercenary is silver and white.
Layle is classified as a Gravity Manipulator, his strategy revolves around using the space around him to both maneuver around and damage his opponent.
Layle uses his main power, gravity, to send a stream of dark-blue energy at the target area, if it hits the enemy it brings them towards Layle, where he blasts them with magic, causing a chase. If it hits a destructible piece of debris, Layle will pull it to him, allowing the player to carry it around, but have impaired movement and jumping. He can then throw it at the enemy to deal physical damage and wall rush the enemy. If it hits a non-destructible piece of the stage, Layle pulls himself to the part incredibly quickly, but it susceptible to damage, he can also hold on to walls for a short period of time if the button is held.
Chase/ Wall Rush
Layle performs a side-evade while wreathed in gravity magic, he then tackles the opponent, attempting HP damage.
Layle launches himself forward in a flurry of magic, he attempts to land a hit on the opponent to knock them away at high speeds on a direct angle.
Crystal Machine Gun
Layle pulls a machine gun out of the rift, he quickly loads it and begins firing rounds at the enemy. It can be channeled for a long time, but the enemy will steadily rise upwards, and the gun turns slowly.
Layle pulls a rusty bronze sword out of the rift and slashes forward, after spinning around he throws it at the enemy.
EX Mode - Crystal Reaction!
Layle recovers both HP and Bravery in EX Mode, if Bravery Regen is equipped, his Bravery regeneration is doubled.
Doubles Critical Rate while in EX Mode
Hold X while in the air to glide through the air with the crystal board.
Layle's movement speed and Focus Energies channeling speed is greatly increased, it also increases his air dash speed.
Pilot the ship in the right direction!
Layle slashes the enemy three times with the Bahamut Sword, then knocks them upwards, he flies away to a massive airship in the background, heavily damaged. He lands on it, and then the player must keep the crosshairs pointed towards the enemy to fill up the target gauge. If it is filled up completely Layle will grapple the enemy with hundreds of streams of gravity energy, then the ship crashes into them, dealing heavy bravery damage and ending the EX Burst.
If the input is incorrect, the ship misses the enemy and keeps going, then explodes. Layle will fly from the explosion and throw a stream of energy at the enemy, swinging around them in circles, further wrapping them up, then fly up and the streams will become crystal, they will then shatter, ending the EX Burst.
