Noctis Lucis Caelum, Noct for short, was a playable character and the protagonist of Final Fantasy XV. He was a prince, the last heir to a dynasty ruling over the last kingdom to control crystals. From his throne, he defended his kingdom from marauders and barbarians who sought to conquer the city and claim the crystals by force. Though he did not wish to fight her, circumstances forced him to do battle with the Lady Stella. Noctis doesn't try to be cool, but acts tough because he feels that it is his duty to protect his kingdom and its citizens. As a result, he often acts rashly or overestimates his own strength.

During the Dissidian wars, he allied with the Warrior in defending Cosmos, on many occasions he met with Stella who acted as a double agent on the side of Chaos. However, circumstances evantually forced him to accept her as his fated rival and to do battle with her.


Noctis' base appearance is based around his main in-game appearance (as seen above). Although he summons weapons during battle Noctis permenantly has his Motor Sword - an engine hilted falchion - in hand. In EX Mode, Noctis upgrades all his weapons to feature motors and engines matching his main Motor Sword. Additionally his eyes change to red.

Noctis' first alternate outfit, "Suited for Battle", dresses Noctis in his ROEN suit, worn during the tower scenes and his first meeting with Stella.

Noctis' second alternate outfit, "Prince in Hiding" portrays Noctis in a black hooded cloak with the royal crest on its back.

Noctis' DLC costume "King's Attire", shows him in regal clothing resembling a stereotype prince except black, including a cape and small crown.

Noctis' manikin, the Shadowed Prince, is Black with Pink highlights.


Noctis is a Wall Assaulter - He fights by summoning weapons to attack and block his opponents to gain an advantage. All his Brave attacks can block different types of attacks by the opponent and his HP attacks work to break the opponent’s own defences giving him additional flexibility to customise his attack patterns for offence or defence. However, Noctis is fairly slow to move and most of his attacks are close-ranged or mid-ranged at best.

Brave Attacks

Weapon Lock Ground/ Aerial Surrounds opponent with all six weapons restricting movement before all simultaneously striking. Nulls attacks done when surrounding opponent.
Summon Gun Aerial Shoots at opponent, can knock opponent down if they are in the air. Can block long-range attacks
Summon Dagger Aerial Charges forward stabbing with Dagger. Can block close range attacks
Summon Staff Aerial Fires three balls of energy that home in on the opponent. Can reflect projectiles

HP Attacks

Attack from Above Aerial Drops Vertically downwards with Lance to get around blocks. Can Wall Rush to deal additional damage.
Staff and Rod Combo Aerial Fires off two separate waves of energy at opponent, can Wall Rush to deal additional damage. Can break some guards.

Brave to HP Attacks

Telekinesis Ground (Chained from Sword Strike and Summon Lance) Throws Sword and Lance in two opposite directions where they follow curved paths returning to Noctis. Can Wall Rush for extra damage.
Weapon Chain Ground/ Aerial (Chained from Summon All Weapons) Throws all the weapons outwards in different directions before having them all strike forward in a line. Hard to Avoid or Block.
Air Attack Aerial (Chained from Summon Dagger/Gun) Summons a Gun and Dagger to hand, firing at opponents stunning them and following through with a stab from the Dagger upon impact.

EX Mode - Equip Motor Weapons

Motor Mania EX Burst The player has to press O in time to Noctis’ attacks to increase the damage dealt. He strikes with each weapon once each for six hits before charging up the motors and dealing the final blow by having them all strike together. If the attacks weren’t all charged Noctis doesn’t charge the Motors before striking.


Noctis can equip all Weapons except Parrying Weapons, Shields, Large Shields, Gauntlets, Helms, Light Armor, and Chestplates.
