Oerba Dia Vanille was a playable character and the narrator in Final Fantasy XIII. She is a mysterious young girl who carries a dark past, along with a heavy burden that the others are initially unaware of. Despite facing many hardships, she remains an upbeat and caring person; though her cheerfulness is mainly a façade she uses to hide the inner guilt she has felt for over five centuries.
In the events of the Dissidian Wars, Vanille was present in the first Wars under the control of the Chaos Warriors, in particular Galenth who sought to use her abilities as Ragnarok as a weapon against Cosmos. After using Ragnarok to defeat Cosmos, Vanille remained in a state of Stasis outside of the battles until Cosmos revived her to aid the Cosmos Warriors in the 15th Cycle. Again after these battles Vanille disappeared and is assumed to be once more in Stasis...
Attire[]
Vanille's Base attire is her appearance from Final Fantasy XIII - She wears a light pink halter top, a short orange and yellow skirt, along with yellow boots. She also wears a fur pelt around her waist, which she uses to attach her weapon when not using it; Her wrists are adorned with numerous bracelets, and she wears three beaded necklaces. In EX Mode, Vanille transforms the Incomplete form of Ragnarok - see picture.
Her 1st Alternate attire is 'Oerban Sister', a pallete swap of Vanille using her fellow Oerban Fang's colour scheme, colouring her clothes in blues and her hair black. In EX Mode Ragnarok has black hair and blue skin.
Her 2nd attire 'Purge Robe', dresses Vanille in the clothing of the Purge Candidates from the beginning of FFXIII. In EX Mode Ragnarok is coloured in whites and greys
Battle[]
Vanille is an Attack Reeler. Using her hookline style 'Binding Rod' weapon. Vanille fights by latching onto her opponents from a distance and slowly pulling them towards her while attacking them. With this tactic Vanille can be a difficult opponent to avoid and she can restrict an opponent’s movements which is useful for her when racing for EX Cores or higher ground. However opponents need to be at a distance for this tactic to work and Vanille has limited Close-range attacks
