The Ranger is a generic job class character.

Rangers are expert marksmen, with mastery of hunting. That being said, Rangers are animal-lovers, protecting those who need it. In turn, various animals will come to their aid.

The Ranger does not appear in the story mode, he does not have an opposing villain.


The Ranger's base outfit is similar to Bartz's Ranger outfit from V.

The alternate outfit, Huntsman, is based on the FFTA Hunter class.

The first DLC outfit, Bowman, is based on the male Tactics Archer class.

The second DLC outfit, Woodsman, is based on the 4 Heroes of Light Ranger classs.

The Ranger's Manikin, Iterated Sniper, is monochrome.


The Ranger specializes in dealing ranged attacks from his bow, which can be blocked by the stage, although some moves may pass through walls. Bow attacks deal less damage up close, but Ranger has close-ranged knife attacks to remedy that. He also has animal companions to aid in attacks.

Brave Attacks

Hunting Slice Ground The user takes his knife and starts slashing at the opponent at close range. Hits four times. Chase
Unicorn Ground The user summons a unicorn, who jabs the opponent upwards. Chase
Teleport (ground) Ground The user teleport away from the enemy.
Covering Fire Ground The user shoots something upward and arrows rain down on the enemy. Can deal anything from 5 to 15 shots to anything in its area of effect.
Quick Shot Ground/Aerial The user fires an arrow with great speed. Mostly horizontal trajectory on the ground and aims diagonally downward when midair.
Aim Ground/Aerial The user charges up an aimed attack. The longer the user charges, the stronger the attack and the chance of bypassing obstacles increases.
Teleport (air) Aerial The user teleports upward, making it a decent alternative jump.
Falcon Assist Aerial A falcon shows up from above and swoop down on the enemy, then ascending.

HP Attacks

Name Type Description
Sonic Boom Ground The user fires an arrow into the air and landing downwards, creating a shock wave that extends to an area. The user doesn't move until the arrow falls down, so it's best to be in a safe zone to do this move. If the opponent is caught by the beginning arrow shot, the opponent will not escape the rest of the attack. Wall Rush
Rapid Fire Ground The user fires four arrow shots consecutively. If the first arrow is not dodged or blocked, then the other arrows are unblockable.
Lightning Strike Ground/Aerial An unblockable quick arrow shot.
X-Fight Ground/Aerial The user takes his knife and slices the opponent three times before stabbing it.
Sidewinder Ground/Aerial The user uses his weapon and an energy sword pops up on top of the enemy, striking it down. This is best used up close, since drawing the knife is easier then the bow, but is still a reliable HP attack. If the enemy is midair when this attack hits, it does more damage.

Brave to HP Attacks

Barrage Ground/Aerial (Chained from Quick Shot and Covering Fire) The user fires four fast shots in the direction of the enemy. Last arrow causes Wall Rush.
Snipe Ground/Aerial (Chained from Aim) This is tricky to pull off, but when the player finishes charging Aim, the button input must be before the user shoots the arrow. However, this move makes the arrow hit the enemy regardless of terrain, location, or if the enemy blocks, and will always do a critical hit.

EX Mode - The Final Hunt

Equipped Legendary Bow! EX Ability The user equips a powerful bow depending on the costume (Normal: FFXII Sagittarius, Alt: FFTA Mythril Shot, DLC1: FFIV Yoichi Bow, DLC2: FFTA Artemis Bow).
Critical Boost EX Ability Increases Critical Hit rate while in EX Mode.
Boost EX Ability Increases Attack while in EX Mode.
Concentrate EX Ability Each attack which utilizes Ranger's Bow will home in to the enemy.
Omnishot EX Burst The user spams arrow shots to the enemy. The mechanics are similar to Laguna's EX Burst. A perfect lands the all-powerful Ultima Shot on the enemy. Fail and the user just throws his knife to headshot the enemy before landing another arrow shot.


Ranger can equip Bows, Daggers, Swords, Thrown Weapons, Clothing, Hats, and Headbands.
